About us
Romi Van Daele is the creation of Jackie Boon and Lucille Bellepleure. Born from a shared vision to break free from fast fashion and the relentless consumer cycle, Jackie and Lucille design timeless pieces that prioritize both comfort and ease of care. Every Romi Van Daele creation is handcrafted with love in our small Antwerp studio, embracing a process that celebrates durability and elegance.
Fast fashion feeds into a cycle of constant consumption, where clothes are made quickly and cheaply, but often at a tremendous human cost. The desire for ever-new styles and trends encourages overproduction and waste, leaving both the consumer and creator trapped in a cycle of dissatisfaction. For consumers, it leads to a fleeting sense of fulfillment, quickly replaced by the pressure to buy the next trend. The garments themselves are often of poor quality, designed to be discarded rather than cherished.
Behind the scenes, many fast fashion brands rely on exploitative labor practices. Factories in developing countries often subject workers to poor conditions, long hours, and extremely low wages—sometimes even forcing people into what amounts to modern-day slavery. For the creators, this means their craft is stripped of dignity, and the passion they may have for garment-making becomes overshadowed by brutal, inhumane demands.
At Romi Van Daele, we refuse to be part of that cycle. Our pieces are designed to bring long-lasting joy to the wearer, offering not only comfort but a sense of connection to the craft. Each garment is made by hand in our Antwerp studio, where we prioritize ethical practices, ensuring that every stitch reflects the love and care that fast fashion can never provide. Our commitment is to create clothing that empowers both the wearer and the maker, leaving behind the empty promises of consumerism and embracing true sustainability.
